A strong historical bond exists between Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

Since 1990–1991, when the Baltic States regained their independence, a considerable amount of the total foreign investment in the Baltic States has been made up of Scandinavian companies and investors. Today, investments are starting to flow also in the other direction, from the Baltic States into Scandinavia.
